Timeline, prizes & rules
  • Open only to IIIT Hyderabad students (@students.iiit.ac.in or @research.iiit.ac.in), solo or in teams of up to 4. You don't need to be a finance expert: teams can combine AI/ML, software development, data science, finance, product and UI/UX skills.
  • No predefined tracks: the problem you choose is up to you. Explore wealth management, investment and portfolio management, financial planning, financial research, advisor productivity, client experience, financial intelligence, risk analysis, financial data and analytics, or AI-powered financial applications.
  • Think it through: who experiences the problem, why it matters, what the current process looks like, where AI can create meaningful value, and what the future solution should look like.
  • 29 September — Launch and registrations: meet LPL Financial, the WealthX challenge and the wealth-management ecosystem. Teams can register and start forming immediately.
  • 29 September – 2 October — Ideation: submit a concise proposal covering the problem, target user, financial context, proposed solution, how AI enables it, and what you plan to build. No prototype is needed yet. You will be given a consent form, which you must fill in and submit along with this first submission.
  • 4 October — LPL Connect: present your idea to LPL Financial professionals, ask questions and get feedback, and learn how LPL operates, the technology its teams work on and how it supports financial advisors.
  • 4–10 October — Build: turn your idea into a working prototype with any AI approach, such as generative AI, LLMs, RAG, AI agents, machine learning, predictive analytics, recommendation systems or multimodal AI.
  • 10 October — Prototype submission by the end of the night: a working prototype, a brief solution description, your AI/technical approach, a GitHub repository or codebase, and a short demo or presentation.
  • 11–13 October — CTRL+ALPHA presentations: the top 50 teams present the problem, the solution, the AI behind it, a live demo and its potential impact on wealth management.
  • Final round — LPL Financial Showcase: the top 10 teams present directly to LPL Financial representatives, covering the financial problem, solution, AI and technology, working prototype and future potential.
  • Prizes: 1st ₹60,000 · 2nd ₹40,000 · 3rd ₹30,000 · 4th ₹25,000 · 5th ₹15,000 (₹1,70,000 total).
