Pentaprism

Image Processing Hackathon

Help mid-range Android cameras get more from their sensors. Work with unprocessed images from a single phone and build algorithms, models or generative AI solutions that improve them for a given prompt.

How it works: Image Processing Hackathon
  • Participants receive a sample set of images straight from the phone's sensor, without processing.
  • Solutions will also run on another image set from the same phone. Judging of the resulting pictures will be mainly through online public voting.

GameJam

Take a game from idea to playable build in 24 hours. Work as a team within a shared theme, combining programming, visual design and engaging mechanics to create something people want to play.

  • The event includes a 24-hour GameJam plus 2 hours for setup and dismantling.
  • The challenge brings together player-centred design, visual aesthetics, core mechanics and an understanding of what makes an interactive experience intuitive and fun.

Hackathon & Design

Open Source Developers Group

Project Hackathon

Build a project with a focus on the thinking behind it. This hackathon puts ideation, design decisions and understanding at the centre, with separate UG1 and main tracks.

How it works: Project Hackathon
  • UG1 track: develop and explain your idea using provided worksheets, with emphasis on ideation and design rather than functionality alone.
  • Main track: face a stricter evaluation of your design decisions and understanding, with sponsor-provided problem statements planned.
  • The hacking phase is followed by two rounds of evaluation. Final specifics depend on discussions with sponsors, collaborators and club members.
